Poem of the Week: The Coming of Light by Mark Strand via Alison McGhee

Even this late it happens:
the coming of love, the coming of light.
You wake and the candles are lit as if by themselves,
stars gather, dreams pour into your pillows,
sending up warm bouquets of air.
Even this late the bones of the body shine
and tomorrow’s dust flares into breath.

A big thank you to Alison McGhee for curating these beautiful poems.

  1. do you have an update on the babyh elephants – lions and antelopes? seems like the news is blasted out for a few days and then there is nothing else said. i’ve done everything i can do….can’t get more info. did obama ever call chinese govn? where are the babies today? thx

    • The babies are still in captivity and one has already died. There will be protests January 24th at chinese embassies all over the world and there will also be a letter writing campaign for those people not able to organize a protest. If you send me your email I will send you all the links or I’ll post here today. I have had a sore hand so I’m not able to write as much as I would like:(
